Variations

  • Flavor: Use any flavor cupcakes that you like! Just keep in mind that it may affect the color scheme of the cupcake. For instance, a chocolate cupcake is going to have a far different appearance than one made with white cake mix.
  • Texture: Make your own cupcakes and add sprinkles or nuts to the batter before baking for fun texture.
  • Frosting: Try using a cream cheese frosting for a delicious tangy yet sweet flavor (or use buttermilk in your frosting for tanginess, too) or buttercream frosting for a classic flavor. Or, simply add vanilla extract to the icing for more vanilla flavor.
  • Toasted coconut: Try gently toasting some of the coconut for a unique flavor.
  • Liners: Change up the colors of the cupcake liners to any color you prefer.

Storage

Store decorated cupcakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
